A Dinner in the Sky

Have you ever been suspended in the air, while you indulge in delicious food and take in the amazing views of the vibrant, blue sea? Well, let me tell you, it’s an unforgettable experience. We had the pleasure of having Dinner in the Sky. So far, this is one of the coolest experiences we have had in Dubai. If you’re comfortable with heights and like a little adventure, then this Dinner in the Sky experience is for you. 

Dinner in the Sky 

Forbes has this experience listed as one of the ten most unusual restaurants in the world, which is pretty cool. It’s truly one of the most unique dining experiences I have had. A crane suspends the table 50 meters high in the sky, so, as I said, you have to be comfortable with heights! However, the height of the table during the flight is at the organizer’s discretion, based on weather conditions. The table can hold a maximum of twenty-two guests per session, so you will be able to enjoy this experience with a decent amount of people. 

This dining experience will take approximately ninety minutes total. There’s a fifteen-minute safety briefing beforehand, a sixty-minute flight to enjoy your meal, and lastly, a ten-minute period to unload and exit the platform. It’s important you arrive on time because they will forfeit your spot, and you won’t receive a refund. This is a super popular attraction, and only so many people can reserve a spot. So, it’s important to be on time so you don’t miss out. When you arrive, you will wait in the lounge with welcome drinks before you start the safety briefing. During your check-in time, I would recommend using the restroom. Once you’re suspended in the air, there’s no going back down, unless it’s an emergency. Furthermore, if the platform has to be lowered down for an emergency, you won’t be able to continue the session, which would be unfortunate.

Menu

The Dinner in the Sky offers three different menus: lunch, dinner, and an afternoon tea. The menu consisted of a variety of different dishes including Tortellini Pasta, King Fish, Oriental Beef, Burrata Salad, and Chocolate Sphere Surprise. The food and service were great, and I couldn’t recommend this experience enough.

Safety

The event organization is dedicated to making sure this attraction is both safe and enjoyable. Every detail, from the seat belts to the type of crane used, has been carefully thought out to ensure the proper safety of the staff and guests. Guests have to wear their safety belts at all times, and the staff members are secured by safety harnesses throughout the flight. There is a fifteen-minute safety briefing before boarding the platform, which informs the guests about all the important safety regulations. They said in the briefing, that they remain in constant communication with the crane operator and ground crew.

The Experience 

This was by far one of the coolest dinners I’ve ever had. The Dinner in the Sky experience was truly one-of-a-kind, and the pictures don’t do the views justice.
