Casa Pombo: A Luxurious Hotel
Hey everyone, welcome back to another travel entry. We are now exploring the beautiful city of Cartagena located in Colombia. The views throughout this city are incredible, and there are an endless amount of things to see and do. This is such an amazing place, and I would highly recommend visiting this area if you’re traveling through Colombia. We stayed at the most gorgeous hotel called Casa Pombo. This is the perfect place to relax and unwind after a long day of exploring the city.
History of Casa Pombo
The Casa Pombo is in the heart of the city right across the street from a famous cathedral. Casa Pombo is one of the oldest buildings in Cartagena with a view of the Plaza de la Proclamation, which is where the Act of Independence was signed. Its foundation was built at the same time Cartegana became a city, back in 1533. In 1908, the building belonged to Don Manuel de Anguiano, the chief commander of the Royal Army. He later became a hero in Cartegana’s War of Independence. Now, it’s an amazing boutique hotel with luxury units centered right in the middle of the walled City.
One of the best things about this luxurious hotel is it’s centrally located to everything, which is super convenient. It’s a beautiful property with a total of five units. We stayed in a three-bedroom, four-bathroom, bottom-floor unit, and we could walk right outside the door and step directly into the water. It was one of the most exquisite places I have ever stayed and looked like something you would see in a fairytale. The beautiful architecture, charming colonial style, and oasis-like ambiance made for the most beautiful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Dining
We had one of the best meals at the Casa Pombo hotel. One of the many great features of this luxurious hotel is that you can have the cook make you any meal you would like. The cook’s name was Judy, and she did a fabulous job. We enjoyed chicken and beef, a salad, with sides of coconut rice and mashed potatoes, and a delicious dessert. The dessert was a local fruit that they carved and turned inside out to create a custard-like substance. It was amazing.
The Experience
I would highly recommend this hotel if you’re traveling through Cartagena. It is truly one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stayed in. Thanks for connecting with me and following me through these beautiful places. If you have any further questions, or would just like to send me a message, you can reach out here.

Wow! Those archways kind of reminds me of the Colosseum. We’re always so quick to run to Europe, but South America has so many hidden treasures within its countries yet to be explored. I’m adding Columbia to my bucket list and Casa Pombo looks like the perfect place to stay.
Beautiful like you said Mark, “out of a fairytale”. A fairytale someday I wish would be my own fairytale!
