Saheb El Saada: Traditional Egyptian Food

Cairo, Egypt

Situated in the heart of the city of Cairo, is an amazing restaurant called Saheb El Saada. Serving authentic Egyptian cuisine, they are dedicated to making sure guests have an excellent experience. Saheb El Saada is located on Al Muizz, which is a famous street in Cairo known for its lively atmosphere. In staying with the theme of Al Muizz street, this restaurant also offers live music and fun entertainment.

Al Muizz Street

This street is well known in Cairo. Lined with beautiful architecture, mosques, and the Khan al-Khalili, this street is constantly packed with both locals and tourists. The street is named after Al-Muizz li-Din Allah, who conquered Cairo in 969 AD. Al-Muizz street was the main path used in medieval times for both entering and exiting the city. Over the years, construction has filled the famous streets making the path more narrow, however, it’s still just as busy.

The Restaurant

This was probably the most authentic meal we have had in Egypt so far. Saheb El Saada was awesome. It is known for being a popular hookah café in the market near the Al-Hakim Mosque. We bought so much food it was honestly ridiculous. Before ordering, we didn’t realize how big the plates of food were going to be. Needless to say, we ended up with eight big platters full of various meats, including pigeon! I, of course, didn’t eat the pigeon, but other people in our group did and actually enjoyed it. I loved their watermelon juice, but honestly, everything was phenomenal.

So, because we ordered way too much food, we ended up giving the rest to the staff of the restaurant, which consisted of about fifteen people. Most of them said that these meals would help feed their families for days. We were so happy that we were able to give the food to those that needed it, instead of throwing it away. Not only were we full of delicious food, but our hearts were full knowing we were able to help people in need.

This was an amazing restaurant. From the fun, bright colors to the live entertainment and delicious food, this place is a must-see. The service was excellent, and we enjoyed spending time together surrounded by true Egyptian culture. I would recommend checking this restaurant out in Cairo if you are in the mood for authentic Egyptian cuisine.  Thanks for joining me on this joinery of seeing the world through a global pandemic.
