The Burj Khalifa: The World’s Tallest Tower
Welcome to the tallest tower in the world. This is the Burj Khalifa, also known as the Burj Dubai. This magnificent skyscraper is located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Sitting at a height of 2,717 feet with 160 floors, this is a structure you don’t want to miss. And, you probably won’t, because you can see it from just about every spot in the city.
Burj Khalifa Design
In the heart of Dubai, sits the tallest skyscraper in the world. The structure is 828 meters tall and overlooks the beautiful city of Dubai. It’s three times as tall as the Eiffel Tower and twice as tall as the Empire State Building, which is crazy! In Saudi Arabia, they’re building a taller building. So, Dubai has plans to build another structure, which should be taller than this one! This new design will eventually replace the Burj Khalifa, but as of now, it’s the tallest building in the world.
The weight of the materials used on the skyscraper is mind-blowing. For example, the weight of the concrete used on the Burj Khalifa is equivalent to 100,000 elephants! Also, the weight of the aluminum is equivalent to five A380 aircraft. Construction began in January 2004. Six years later, the Burj Khalifa finally opened in January 2010. This masterpiece took over 12,000 construction workers to complete.
Burj Khalifa
This magnificent building holds the record for being the tallest building in the world. However, the Burj Khalifa also holds six other records. The others being the tallest freestanding structure in the world, the highest number of stories in the world, the highest occupied floor in the world, the highest outdoor observation deck in the world, the elevator with the longest travel distance in the world, and lastly, the tallest service elevator in the world. The building is used for multiple things including restaurants, a hotel, residential apartments, offices, and a tourist attraction.
The Experience
You will have the opportunity to take the elevator to the top of the skyscraper, which is floor 154 out of 160. As you can see in the photos above, the high-definition elevator displays how fast it goes per second. In front of the skyscraper are rows of amazing fountains. There is a water show that is performed every thirty minutes. Also, on the side of the building, a light show is projected every fifteen minutes. The popular shows were designed by the same company that created the fountains at the Bellagio Hotel Lake in Las Vegas, which is pretty interesting. Also, the Dubai Fountains hold the record for being the world’s largest fountain system!
Cool story, while we were visiting the Burj Khalifa, we met Will Smith, which was pretty awesome! This was an amazing experience. The views of the city were breathtaking, so we were able to capture some great photos. However, the photos don’t do the sights justice. Thanks for reading along.
